Lent

Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent which is the traditional season of renewal and
repentance in Christ - the time of spiritual ‘training’.

Lent is a period of preparation, a time of prayer, fasting and almsgiving ahead of Our Lord’s Passion and Resurrection.
It is a good time to feed your Spiritual Life and your relationship with God,
practice self-discipline, and fast in other ways throughout the season.

During Lent, we should fast from something meaningful.
We offer this fasting to God in reparation for our sins and those of the whole world.
This could be depriving yourself in a dietary fashion - chocolate or alcohol for example - but it could
also be fasting from watching television or being on social media.

It could also be where we take something up instead and make a concentrated effort to renew our prayer life.

Ash Wednesday

We attend Mass on Ash Wednesday to begin the Lenten season.

Fasting & Abstinence

Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fasting and abstinence.
