003
Dr dear Dr: There was much resistance to the New Catechism before it came out in its printed editions, with some sisters in the sisterhood complaining about the general tenor and introduction to the new document, is there any sign of progress?
003 refers not to a secret French agent working for the Second Desk in some heavenly Parigi Paris light years away, but to a particular paragraph in the Global Catechism - textus finalis 97 - that highlights the problem mentioned above. The sisterhood objected in a Red Wall northern diocese to the very fixed and rigid and ossified terms of the debate because they assumed that the document would be called the Deposit of Faith, a very olde worlde concept, though in fact in 003 we can see another hermeneutic working itself through the system, the Good News is a treasury and not just a very sick two-dimensional deposit, something one might see on a side-walk in Chicago, the sister in charge there once said when introducing the resistance movement of the rebel federations of those northern dioceses to the new global document. But the word chosen in 003 then really is much more dynamic and it is a dynamic “treasury” needing to be proclaimed rather than just a fixed ironed out deposit locked in the chains of ancient history. So 003 to the rescue sometimes, especially when people are stuck into their fixed ideas.
