Dr dear Dr: Have the science bods managed to eradicate the Corona Virus completely or must we wait for more help even from religion to sort out this virus? Can the Christians offer some guidance on the whence and wherefore of a now declining and much reduced virus, reduced by herd immunity and many vaccines, Deo gratias? Weather permitting, is there a place in Italy for a new mendicant preaching order of friars or little brothers that would be useful to the people of Italy, to address the weaknesses of human nature that maybe might have produced such a virus, and is there something foretold or prophesied in the Bible or in some other medieval tomes like Nostrodamus about such a virus? Prophecies?

Yes, certainly both religion and science have been so beleaguered in recent months that an exceptional but providential Alliance is sometimes called for, just to inform the mind about such strange anomalies in the human biosphere. Yes, Italy is a lovely place and a wonderful wanderland for all those that seek the noble apotheosis of beauty in the John Keats tradition of all truth is beauty, all beauty is truth; so it is not surprising to receive this very charming letter from Bergamo on the subject of prophecy, Bergamo where both church and state have suffered much from that terror inducing virus, but worry not, help is at hand, and hard information can be very useful.

Certainly, the Hebrew Bible does offer some guidance in Lamentations and Proverbs - a gentle answer turns away wrath (Prov 15). NB - A light has shone over China recently this last christmastide and many are keen to interpret it as something important, and this light was rather like the Aurora Borealis or Australis elsewhere, an illumination of light particles in the sky, as Joanna Lumley says in her lovely guide to the Northern Lights, when she reveals that the local Sami  people express dismay that westerners or southerners should wave at the Northern Lights and show disrespect to them - there are certain religious customs to be observed when meeting such cosmic events and waving is not one of them. There are many interpretations about such cosmic events, but it is true that Nostrodamus does offer some guidance to such things. In his entry for 1590 he states the following, that in a twinning year a strange and debilitating pestilence shall strike the proud in the land - striking what he calls the superbia or the proud, those who rejoice in human strength and human riches, and certainly not even having a million dollars for some has saved anyone from this virus, (NB - the twinning years being those of 1616, 1717, 1818, 1919, 2020, 2121, 2222 and so on):

1. A bright light shall shine out from the East - ex luce Oriens;

2. A light that shall take the outward form of a crown - lux in forma coronae;

3. Bringing not natural light to illumine the night but a false light to deceive men of pride - lux falsa;

4. Deceiving many and especially the men of the world who rejoice in strength - ex superbia;

5. This light shall reach across the whole world from the Oriens - totam per terram;

6. Even arriving unto the fair lands of the Venetians in Italy - ad confines terrae Venetianae;

7. And then reaching up into the mists and fogs of the 7 hills and the city therein - ad septimos collines Urbis;

8. And touching mankind in all of his greatest achievements rendering much to nothing - ex nihilo;

9. Eventually touching even the chosen ones such as the minutanti of the city - Urbs et Orbis;

So yes, responding to the generous reader, a mendicant preaching order actually might well be a great thing and the preaching of the early gospel of the early apostles might well defeat all enemies of churches and enemies of the human race and the anawim, since it is doubtful Jesus will return to his chosen ones until they adopt the garb of the apostles again like the good old days of the Illuminati and Humiliati. The Bible does offer some guidance for such troubled times in Luke 6 and Matt 7 and Luke 9 - "every hair upon your head has been counted." Well done, a good idea. This is one area where religion can guide us to mysteries of pestilence and disease, and where religion can help us account for some of the strange anomalies of this particular virus.

But as for science, here too science, hard science, can be just as effective in the fight against the virus, and I have in my possession a UNICEF Report from 2020 that identified some characteristics of the virus concerned and some ways of taking ordinary precautions to deal effectively with it:

1. The Cv-19 virus is quite large in its cell and proportions, measuring between 400 and 500 microns apart in cell diameter, so an ordinary surgical FACE MASK is after all is said and done quite sufficient to prevent it from entering the human body through the normal channels;

2. Not always and everywhere an airborne anomaly in via ordinaria, it prefers liquid solutions and droplets as its chosen medium, so not transmitted by air in the maine usual format;

3. If it falls onto a metal surface it will live there for up to 12 hours, so regular washing of kitchen and other surfaces will kill its outer protein casing structure;

4. If it falls onto a fabric surface, it will last for up to 9 hours, so it does not like hot temperatures, and washing or exposure to the ultra violet rays of the sun for 2 hours usually does the trick;

5. If it falls onto hands it can live there for 10 minutes, so hand-gelling with an alcohol sterilizer is very important as a preventative measure against super-spreading customs;

6. If exposed to high temperatures of above 26 and 27 degrees Centigrade, that usually kills it, by rupturing the outer protein casing of the virus;

7. A regular nightly gargle with warm water or salt water too kills the germs that live on the tonsils, and this will prevent the Cv-19 virus from getting deeper into the metabolism;

I hope that is all very useful to the ordinary housewives of the parish here in the countryside where the air is always fresher and where such a Corona virus can easily dissipate into the winds and breezes of the country climate. Certainly such UNICEF Reports can assist in the ongoing fight against this virus, helping families to do their part in combatting the outward attack vectors of such a virulent anomaly.
