Tithe

Dr dear Dr: What is the point of supporting cardinals in London with pennies on the collection plate while the same cardinals do not preach the evident merits of biblical tithing?

Money problems. These are arising for most dioceses after 3 years or more of economic lockdowns imposed by the science based sororities and the national government to howls of protest from more and more of the media news channels. To say nothing of the looming booming war talk of small town politicians in Sage and other NGOs. Sanctions too, but hurting on the return trip as grain and wheat pile up in blockaded ports in the Ukraine, since 80% of wheat in Europe comes from Russia and the Ukraine, 40% of Eurogas comes from Russia, and 60% of potassium nitrates so important as fertilizer for the crops and the fields comes from Russia too. Dire straits these sanctions have created indeed. Also, the MI3 style lockdown system is producing more and more civil disobedience and more and more ribald comment, as government ministers are fined by the police for partying during their own lockdowns while peoples and charities suffered and the poor old Queen had to sit alone in her chapel stalls during the funeral of her beloved Prince while bereft of all words and all comfort - criminal behaviour callous disregard for the old dear from the unfeeling science elites. If the government is serious about furloughing and compensation for businesses, and charities in Britain are businesses too, then why not move to the German system where say 5% or 10% of income tax goes to a charity of choice as specified on the income tax return forms. British dioceses are still close to their people but still too dependent on local national giving on the collection plates nowadays. Charities have shouldered most of the burdens and the food banks during this dreadful Apocalypse Now period of Covid that the government in the old socialist system should have shouldered. Charities have kept this country going through the dark dark days of government underfunding and Sage style procrastination with unfeeling elites at centers of government quaffing champagne while the people really suffered hardship - my dear sweet elderly parents had to struggle to survive during those very very unpopular lockdowns. But more generally for charities that are religions, in the biblical vein of things, Malachi 1-3 reminds everybody that it is tithing that is to be regarded as the norm for most charitable giving in the world of religion, not a few pennies in the plate - that is a disgrace for what the people receive from their churches, especially a good education for all their kids, for which general tithing in the Bible the good Saviour promises a particular return - read it in the Bible it is there, and this might be the best interim future format for charities that are religions - this could put the finances of such dioceses back on a firmer footing for the future. Tithing - it’s biblical, it’s religious. That is the format for self-respecting dioceses. Time to rise from the ashes of petty government self-protected lockdowns like phoenixes. Phoenix.
