Earthshot 2021
30th Nov 21 - Earthshot
Rev dear Rev: What is the Overall Purpose of the Earthshot Prize of 2021? Is it relevant for our times? Why the term "Earthshot" in any case?
Whether, in our private little worlds as celebrated by the Canadian Rock Group Rush in the album "Spirit of Radio", one accepts the arguments and counter-arguments back and forth of the now global climate change debate, since so much hangs on the data coming in from both sides, is more and more subtly quite opaque and immaterial, since this Prize offers an interesting window on something that the British Royals can be proud of - their commitment to Green issues more generally. Carbon and plastic pollution in China and India being a growing font of concern and worry for many rulers and governments as of this winter, especially what with the now famous phrase of Boris the Prime Minister - "We are at 2 minutes to Midnight on this score." And so we are - it is almost too late for us to do something about the issues raised very bravely at Glasgow Cop-26 in Scotland GB.
Much in the manner of the Christmas Carol Service of the young Duchess of Cambridge scheduled for the 8th December 2021, scheduled interestingly enough for the Second Anniversary of the first recorded cases of death from Cv-19 in Wuhan China, the Earthshot Prize that was set up for 2021 represents a sincere attempt by the Royals of Britain to grapple with the implications of climate change and to propose solutions from entrepreneurial young people for the problems of the age of pollution and the onset of various climate change challenges. The Royals have shown that they are sincere about the challenges faced by the human race in this connection. A whole succession of Royals as per the following have demonstrated time and time again, long before their time, and long before the concepts were fashionable among the moderne elites of the Green awareness inducing media, long before the radicalismus of Greta the Great, that there are issues which must be faced by the modern generations:
The Duke of Edinburgh;
Prince Charles;
Prince William;
Prince Harry;
Princess Beatrice.
Each in their own way, either through farming or land management or simple woke green theology, has shown that they are committed to forging ahead with some solutions to the problems of the environment in our time. They are a Series of Rulers worried about the Green and Pleasant in the Green and Pleasant - very like some young people at a recent Eastern Rite wedding called Analise and Rachel and Pere Shafiq, they are keen to demonstrate some mileage in prizes that are geared to galvinising young people all along the Commonwealth and beyond around the Globe too into applying their minds to the great challenges that the human race faces in our time, to providing new and innovative Green and Blue solutions to the issues raised at Cop-26 for instance, a grande initiative that is already seeing direct, current, specific, and concrete benefits, if that is not a mixed metaphor. A lovely prize the Earthshot Prize and inspired by the photographic shot of planet earth from space from one of the Apollo and Gemini missions to the moon way back in the 1960s, arguably the chief moderne moment when astronauts looked back on the human homeworld from the point of view of the second moon, and the human race achieved self-awareness as a space-based species for the first time. Yes, a great and grande innovation in modern Green theology. Bravi to the Royals and especially to the youth-filled Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. A worthwhile prize.
