Consecrate

Fr dear Fr: What are the limitations if any imposed on the Act of Consecration re-launched this last month of Russia to Our Lady and the Immaculate Heart and Sacred Hearts? Any light to shed on this subject?

Interesting question. There are some outlying timelines that can be recorded about this Act of Consecration, this desire to consecrate holy mother Russia to the Immaculate and Sacred Hearts, much after the manner of the following:

1917 - Apparitions of the Grey Lady at Fatima in Portugal;

1929 - Clarifications of the terms of the Consecration and Repeat Call of the BVM;

1959 - John XXIII elected pope and Second Vatican Council announced;

1962 - Cuban Missile Crisis between America and Russia, and AJ Ayer intervening;

1984 - Act of Consecration of the whole world to Mary by John Paul II and bishops;

1989 - Fall of the Berlin Wall, liberalisation of the old Soviet Union;

1992 - Independence of the Soviet Republics, including Ukraine, Broken Arrow;

2000 - Repeat Calls of the Fatima devotees to Consecrate properly;

2021 - Unrest in Kazakhstan, home of the Rocket Technology;

2022 - Act of Consecration of Russia and the old Ukraine by Francesco I.

So there was a time once the Grey Church came into vogue after the Council when such Fatima Apparitions and their content were pondered over and questioned among monsignors and canons, but eventually, the new pope saw the wisdom of the request and acceded to the concerns of the Blessed Virgin about this timeframe. For a long time, Fatima devotees were regarded with suspicion by the Grey Church and its grey monsignors emanating from around Paris, and much of the Apparitions of Fatima were misunderstood and plainly doubted by the Grey Church, but as events unfolded in Europe over this timeframe after the Council, then the need for an Act of Consecrating of the old Russia motherland became apparent, even to less spiritual people that dominated the Church in that timeframe from 1960 to 2000. It was regarded for a long time as one of the mysteries that John Paul I and John Paul II used to ponder over, how Europe could be dominated by a revanchiste, resurgent Russia, but true enough, all this came to be in time, what with the new year of 2022. The rest is history. The Secrets were eventually opened by the popes and carefully read - they had prophesied events correctly. A flag to “holy mother Russia” did eventually flutter over the city of Rome in the fullness of time.
